Indonesia is home to the Largest Muslim communities in the world. Although 88% of its population are Muslims, Indonesia is not an Islamic state. Indonesian Muslims are well-known for their moderation and being tolerant.

Based on the historical record, Islam arrived in Indonesia around the 8th century A.D, Islam developed as well, the people of Indonesia are widely accepted. The distribution is carried out slowly by the Wali Allah, known as the Wali Songo.

To be more easily understood by the public, then acculturation of culture is happen. Unlike other religions, Islam entered Indonesia with elastic, in the introduction of Islamic symbols (such as building form of worship) or religious ritual.

This can be seen from the first mosques built in Indonesia, form of this Islamic center is resembles a local architecture, heritage of Hinduism. This is clearly Islam more tolerant to pattern of culture in indonesia.

From here we can say that Islam and culture in Indonesian which developed centuries ago, with a variety of culturae in Indonesia. Islam is able to harmoniously, as long as the essence the essence of culture is not contrary to Islam.
